All The Way From Michigan, Not Mars is a project featuring Rosie Thomas, Sufjan Stevens, and Denison Witmer. This limited edition release includes The Apartment Sessions vinyl LP, a companion DVD with deleted scenes and performances, and a newsprint poster. Using intimate live performances with fellow songwriters Stevens and Witmer as a pathway, the film is a meditative, lyrical exploration of Thomas's work and her quest for an expression of truth, combining songs of plaintive melancholy with sharp-witted banter and her bizarre stand-up comedian alter ego, Sheila.
