Released in the spring of 2013, a few months after a stint in Jack White's touring band helped raise her profile, Originator is a startling original second album from Brooke Waggoner. Previously, she flirted with tuneful singer/songwriter pop on her debut Heal for the Honey, then she got softer and grander on Go Easy Little Doves, but Originator gets weird, taking considerable risks with her compositions and arrangements. At first, the ornate yet rustic accouterments in the production are what are notable, but as their odd, halting rhythms start to make sense, the strong construction of the songs becomes apparent. There are hints of Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, and, yes, Jack White, yet Waggoner doesn't copy, she synthesizes, creating a gently wild, wholly compelling statement of purpose with her third album. - iTunes

VINYL Details

Release Date: March 26, 2013

Record Label: Swoon Moon Music

UPC: 887158311833

Number of Discs: 1

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1398/5745/products/600x600bb_69c8ede0-494f-48d1-9583-0862f9b60923.jpg?v=1471616576
waggoner-brooke-sweven-cd
Sweven CD
Sweven is the 2016 album form Nashville-based singer/songwriter Brooke Waggoner. Music, like fashion, food and a bevy of other cultural landscapes, continually waffles between nostalgia and innovation, cycling through one reinvention to the next. Brooke Waggoner's inherent grasp and commitment to her sound, seems decidedly unconventional considering these patterns of trend. "I found my sound at a pretty young age," says the songwriter, composer and performer. That sound, explored and refined in her latest album, Sweven, draws the notes between her past and present and doesn't hesitate to mine an unusual source - herself. Brooke found herself revisiting her earliest work, captured in a pre-YouTube phase of life, that she had recorded throughout her childhood. "My mom is a big memorabilia person and really pushed me to record everything on cassette tapes at the time. I have every lyric I've written since age nine." Brooke ended up producing the album, and handpicking a close knit group of friends and family to play. The deadline was self-imposed. "My only goal was to finish it before my son was born. It came down literally to the day. I tracked my last set of vocals the afternoon before his arrival."

CD Details

Release Date: January 15, 2016

Record Label: Swoon Moon Music

UPC: 859715189988

Number of Discs: 1

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1398/5745/products/600x600bb_0e845653-8d90-4269-b777-379f1a96016b.jpg?v=1471616901
waggoner-brooke-sweven-vinyl
Sweven Vinyl LP
Vinyl edition of Sweven, the 2016 release from Brooke Waggoner.

VINYL LP Details

Release Date: January 15, 2016

Record Label: Swoon Moon Music

UPC: 796745104720

Number of Discs: 1
